Is Christianity a Religion?
I had a talk with someone the other day. We were talking about Judaism and Islam and then he asked the question, "Is Christianity a Religion?" I of course, said "Yes! Of Course" Then he continued that in the Islam and Judaism, there are religious practices. Religious practices that no matter if one is liberal, conservative, orthodox, is practiced everywhere and anywhere in the world. His question, "Is there the same for Christians?"
What are Christians religious practices that we all do "religiously" that says who we are as a religion. Hmmm.....Being Christian is about FAITH and along the way we pray, serve, go to church, study, and hopefully along the way we are a presence for Christ for the person in front of us. But, I have to admit that as Christians we cannot assume that we will all religiously practice a certain prayer everyday, ritual, or service, celebration or observance that I can compare with others who practice their faith religously with practices!!
If this doesn't make sense. Try this: When I mention Muslims - immediately - we think of prayer five times a day, rituals about food, the opposite sex, appearance and dress, Ramadan and the Koran. Judaism - immediately we think special prayers, rituals (circumcision) observances Bat Mitzvah Yom Kippur, etc).
Christian - immediately we think.....Jesus, Lent, Easter, Christmas, The Bible
Let me know if you come up with religious practices we all do as Christians.... okay pray! got that but daily, how many times in the day....looking forward to what you come up with.
